Dry, still cider
Old Man & The Bee is a cider close to our hearts, our annual reflection on the vintage two years' past and how it played out in our home orchard specifically.
2019 was a difficult harvest with tricky picking conditions. Ruthless fruit selection led to only four barrels being filled from our home orchard for Old Man & The Bee. A blend of Dabinett (67%), Harry Masters Jersey (31%) and a small amount of perry (2%) to mature for six months. In the end only two of these barrels were selected for the final blend and it was bottled still, without additions.
Slightly hazy and orange gold in colour, it's very aromatic with super ripe yellow plums, honeysuckle and a little vanilla. It’s fleshy and juicy, almost creamy in texture at points, loaded with apricot, peach and pithy orange fruit. There are noticeable tannins, but in that fine, soft, wet-slate style, and it finishes with a subtle salinity.
