Would you like to join us we launch Disco Nouveau? We are inviting all Cider Club members to a Zoom Cider Nouveau tasting on Saturday 21 November, 7pm.
And we don't just want you to taste our Cider Nouveau, but also one from the producer who first had the idea. Take a bow, Tony Lovering of the award-winning Halfpenny Green.
Tony first spoke to us about the concept earlier this year. Initially sceptical, we came to love the idea.
Why? Well with Cider Nouveau we can tackle two common misconceptions about cider. Firstly, that cider is just a drink for summer – as we all know it’s not – and secondly, although a vast amount of cider is made continuously in a recipe-driven process, true cider is a wholly seasonal drink, made from the apples of each harvest and little else.
So we have a small supply of Tony's Cidre Nouveau, which we are packaging up with our Disco Nouveau, including Club Members discount, at a special price of £18.
You can read all about our Disco Nouveau here. For Tony's Cidre Nouveau, he chose two early harvesting cider apples, the zesty Browns, and the famed Somerset Redstreak. This time, to ensure fermentation, Tony used cultured yeast, and after three to four weeks, and a light filtering – voila! A still, fruity cider with attitude.
While Tony is perhaps best known for his sparkling ciders, he makes a strong range of still ciders too. His ever popular mobile bar, to be found at many a festival throughout the midlands and Three Counties, is one to make a beeline for.
So join us and together we can taste both ciders, very different, side by side, with input from both the makers.
