Four top drinks for four days of holiday - and this is the collection with the one for chocolate!
Begin the celebrations with elegant, delicate bubbles in Brut de Poiré 2021, our fragrant champagne method perry. Crafted from beautiful French perry pears grown locally, fermented with natural yeasts, these were hand disgorged à la volée. Brioche, honey and blossom on the nose, with honey and floral notes continuing onto the palate.
Match this with smoked salmon appetisers, antipasti small plates, thai fishcakes and vegetable dishes, risotto primavera, or indulge solo.
If it's roast lamb on the table, Thick Cut 2021 is the one. Beautiful Yarlington Mill, with the complexity from judicious barrel ageing. Equally at home with filled pasta with a homemade tomato sauce, a glorious quiche, or the Easter cheeseboard - revel in the flavours.
And if it's lighter fare on the table, then opt for Wading In 2021, our beautifully textured, still cider, crafted with that magical dessert apple, Egremont Russet. Gorgeous aromatics precede lovely bright tropical citrus flavours, with juicy acids and a distinct minerality. We're thinking herby, baked fish, seared scallops or - just fresh in - asparagus in any guise.
And, for that final treat, enjoy To Boldly Go - Who Mourns for Grapes?
Crafted by James with fine Lambrusco in mind, this is a unique blend of sour cherries, perry pears and Discovery apples, all locally sourced. Super creamy with lovely pillowy bubbles, there's sweet cherry, almond blossom and ripe pear notes. Drink in the sheer joy, or partner with charcuterie or aged cheeses. Truly versatile, Webbs of Wychbold partnered it with duck lollipops at last year's Autumn feast.
On the sweet side - this is the one for the dark chocolate. Just a square will do it. With or without fruit filling. Or a touch lighter - my favourite - cherry bakewell tart or cake. Magic.
Happy Easter!!
