If you like natural wine then this is the trio for you. Here's a triptych of some our more complex and unusual bottles. Hints of funk, perhaps, oodles of joy, we can guarantee.
First up we have our Pet Nat Perry 2023, Hendre Huffcap Translucent, hazy lemon in the glass, the smell of ripe pears, honey and hay tumble out of the bottle. In the mouth it's all super creamy, concentrated pear fruit to begin with before a gorgeous streak of electric acidity emerges. For a moment it becomes a real study in yuzu lemons and sherbet dib dabs, and then returns to the loveliness of the pears and the blossom.
Orange Cider 2023 is our little homage to skin contact white wines, or orange wines as they are known. Showing a wonderful array of perfume, flowers and yellow fruit on the nose and deeply juicy, fleshy peach, fragrant spice and sweet herbs in the mouth.
Sum of the Parts #3 is our foray into the risky business of long barrel ageing and fractional blending, based loosely on the solera systems used in sherry production.
Vivid orange-gold in colour, the nose offers up sweet wood, orange oil, purple flowers and subtle smoke. In the mouth it's plushly textured, with the once raw acids beautifully polished over time, serving to intensify the flavours of our candy, blueberry, mulberry and candied citrus. The scent of blue flowers, violets predominantly, play across the palate which is noticeably saline and which reveals a hint of tannin and smoke on the finish.
