Hello Sheffield!

Ever wondered what it's like to be a women in the cider industry? Fancy tasting some distinctive ciders? To celebrate International Women's Day, Susanna is joining Jules Grey, founder of not only the amazing drinks shop, Hop Hideout, but also the wonderful Sheffield Beer Week on Wednesday 8 March, 6-8pm in the latest stop on the Campaign trail.

Disco Nouveau 2022, the first cider from the extraordinary 2022 vintage, will be having its Sheffield launch on keg, We'll also be tasting La Pera, the special perry/beer collab Pastore created with Little Pomona. This is a golden wild ale, aged for a year in sherry casks and rested on perry pear lees from Little Pomona. There will also be a couple of other treats...

In keeping with our campaign, Cider Is Not Just For Summer, there will be tasty morsels on hand for food matching. Worcester Hop cheese will be joining Urban Pizza in the food corner. Which goes best with which? You decide!

At 7pm, we'll be having a little chat, reflecting on the last decade and what it's meant for women in cider and beer, and what the future might hold.

A Tale Of Two Women: International Women’s Day Celebration with Little Pomona & Hop Hideout

Where: Hop Hideout, Unit 11, Kommune, 1-13 Angel Street, Sheffield. S3 8LN
Website:
6 to 8pm
Free entry

Join Susanna and Hop Hideout and Sheffield Beer Week’s founder Jules Gray in store as we celebrate a beer and cider friendship spanning a decade.

Susanna and James founded Little Pomona Orchard in 2015, convinced the time was right for artisan cider to show their true colours – complex, fascinating drinks with depth and panache. For Little Pomona it’s all about the fruit. Spontaneous fermentation, no filtration, back sweetening or artificial carbonation. There’s experimentation too – co-ferments with quince and damson for example – and innovation.

Little Pomona pioneered keg conditioning, plus collabs with the likes of Deya and Pastore.

"The community has always been vital," says Susanna. Taking a leaf out of the world of women in beer, Susanna co-led the creation of the Cider Women group in 2019, fervently believing that women’s contribution to the world of cider needs to be both recognised and encouraged.

An experienced cider judge, Susanna is the author of The Cider Insider, and in 2021 was given CAMRA’s Pomona Award for her long-term commitment and work for the cider and perry industry.
