Summer Take Two!

As we head into holiday season proper, here's two more  releases for these long summer days! Released to Club members today, 24 July, at midday, they will be on general release Monday at midday.

Still dry cider and ciderkins are two things we absolutely love because each in their own way hark back to that bygone era of cider’s heyday, when makers pressed just apples and sometimes, pressed those apples again, to make delicious drinks without the need for anything else. This fruit, that philosophy – these are the things we live and breathe.

First up is our latest in the Hard Rain series of ciderkins…

*HARD RAIN HOPPED #2 - 2020 - Chinook

A base ciderkin made from the second pressing of our favourite eating apple, Egremont Russet, dry hopped with whole cone Chinook from our talented hosts, Brook House Farm,  for seven days and then bottle conditioned.

We’ve taken the fleshy, rich, nuttiness of the apple and brought it together with the pine and grapefruit of the hops to deliver a super thirst quenching, hybrid sparkler that is just a joy to drink!

Next in line is a cider made from Somerset-bred apple, grown in the deep south of, and fermented in the far north of Herefordshire…

*SOMERSET REDSTREAK 2019

Our first ever single variety release from this apple. We sourced the fruit from friends and legends Ross on Wye Cider & Perry, wild fermented the juice in tank before moving the nascent cider to ex-Chardonnay barrels to mature. What has emerged after nearly two years is delicious and intriguing, but also given the variety and barrels used, very unexpected.

On the nose it’s unique, all seaside brine and subtle smoke and orange fruit. Some of this continues onto the pallet, where it is met by crunchy, juicy citrus and apricot, herbal notes, subtle vanilla and spice from the barrel and ripe tannins.

At its best on the dinner table with all types  of salty, tangy, fatty or spicy foods, or maybe just on its own to sip and wonder how it came to be.

As well as going on general release on Monday, this duo will also hit stores (check out our stockist page) in the coming weeks and, with way less pressure on numbers than our Deya duo, we hope you'll have a chance to get hold of a bottle or two.

Wassail!
