We like to joke that the biggest difference between our cider and wine is that our grapes grow on trees! To a certain extent that is true. We left the world of wine to start Little Pomona and we see the parallels and the differences every day. These three drinks are super vinous.
Throne Farm Perry is a still, off dry, barrel matured perry that is as close to a northern Italian white wine as you’ll get without making the trip to Lake Garda! Prisitine and pure, it’s like drinking fresh nectarine juice!
Wading In is cider’s answer to fine white burgundy. It is the perfect combination of succulent white fleshed fruit, honeysuckle perfume, star anise and fine oak. If you’re serving smoked salmon at any time over the Christmas and New Year festivities, this is the one to choose! Equally, chicken and fish in herby sauces, or lightly spiced roast cauliflower or celeriac.
Our Orange Wine is in fact a wine, made with the Solaris and Seyval banc grapes grown on the farm where we are based, but made with cidermaker thinking rather than winemaker. Partial but extended skin contact has given what could have been a white wine, a gorgeous amber colour and the aromatics are insanely tropical and grapey. In the mouth fruit is not the only consideration. Its fleshy and herbal in that English sort of way and that marries well with the pithy tropical citrus fruit and fine tannins that emerge at the finish.
